Jessie Matthews, Jr. 81 of Carroll County died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. Visitation will be 5p.m. to 7p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Wilson Knight Funeral Home followed by Graveside services at 11a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coila.

Mr. Matthews was born April 7, 1932 in Carroll County, he served in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. He is a retired owner of Farm, Tractor and Auto Supply of Minter City. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a loving husband, father and grandfather.He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie Leonard Matthews and Annie Lou Holeman and his daughter Jennifer Matthews Alford.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife of 63 years Bernice Lezzette Matthews of Carroll County, two sons Johnny Matthews of Cape Coral Florida and Mark Matthews of Black Hawk and daughter Pam Matthews Melton of Black Hawk. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers are Scott Matthews, Eric Matthews, Wade Matthews, Chris Holly, Wayne Blaylock and Mike Alford.
