Obituary

Jimmie Watters Lipe, Sr. 90 of Greenwood died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Crystal Health and Rehab. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1p.m. until service time Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. David Lipe and Gene Barrett will officiate.

Mr. Lipe was born on August 22, 1924 in Pope MS to George and Mary Ola Selby Lipe and lived in Greenwood, MS. He moved to Greenwood in 1940, and was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during WWII and retired after 38 years with Stribling, Inc. then began doing beaver and animal control until 80 years of age. He loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of Buckhorn Hunting Club since 1945. He was preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn Tyler Lipe and granddaughter Stephanie Lipe.

Mr. Lipe is survived by his second wife Johnnie Flowers Bates of Greenwood, son Jimmie Watters Lipe, Jr. of Clinton, three step children David Bates of Brandon, MS, Linda Bates Henderson of Indianola, Kathryn Bates Brown of Nampa, Idaho. He is also survived by two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, eight step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jimbo Eastland, Everett Eastland, Jim Bowen, Peyton Scheppe, 'Cat' Walker, Frank Walker, Terry Byrd, and Terry Callahan. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Buckhorn Hunting Club, Henry Flautt, Karlos Gercens, Dr. Wally Moses and Dr. Paul Kosko.
