Services for Joe Alton McClure, Sr. will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 11:00 AM at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.

Mr. McClure, 86, of Schlater, MS, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 18, 2023.

Joe was born on July 7, 1937 in Charleston, MS, to the late George Jefferies and Mattie Herron. He started farming when he was 14 years old and spent the last twenty years of his farming career with Prestige Farms. He also was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue McClure of Schlater, MS; son, Joe Alton (Tonya) McClure, Jr. of Coila, MS; daughters, Shelia (Henry) Phillips of Indianola, MS, Patsy (Eddie) Richardson of Yazoo City, MS, and Belinda (Phillip) Jaco of Schlater, MS; nine grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Pete Roncali will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Henry Phillips Jr., Dylan Jaco, Phil Jaco, Paco Zuniga, Christian Smith, and James Stokes. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Pratt, Landon Liddell, and Carl Smith. Burial will follow in McNutt Cemetery.
