Joel Wasson Tyler Jr., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS, at the age of 60.

He was born on February 27, 1957 in Greenwood, and he was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joel Wasson Tyler Sr. and Mary Nell Nutt Tyler of Greenwood, and great nephews, Jackson Craig Hunt and Nathan William Hunt. He was an honor graduate of Greenwood High School and Delta State University.

Joel is survived by his three sons, whom he loved and adored, Nicholas Alexander Tyler, Christopher Landon Tyler, and Brandon Wells Tyler all of Tupelo, MS; sister, Myra Tyler Fondren and her husband Tim of Sidon, MS; and a brother, Mark Tyler and his wife Amanda of Flowood, MS. He cherished and loved his nieces and nephews, Dr. Mary Kathryn Wilson and her husband TC, Katie Summers Hunt and her husband Bedford, Tyler Fondren, Dr. John Mark Tyler, and his wife Dr. Shelly Tyler, Hannah Farris and her husband Caanan Farris; great nephews, Corban Wilson, Wasson Dean Wilson, Grayson Tyler, and Paxton Tyler.

Graveside services will be held at Phillipston Baptist Cemetery on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00am. Visitation will be held from 9:30am till 10:30am Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be his nephews.
