Mr. Perry, age 77 died on Monday September 08, 2014 at Residence of Heart Failure
He was born on January 18, 1937 in Carroll County, MS to John and Samella Mitchell Perry and lived in the Gravel Hill Community of Carroll County most of his life. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army for 6 months and was released into the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired from the Department of Agriculture, was a retired farmer, and was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by Wife, Ida Lue Perry of the Gravel Hill Community of Carroll County, two Sons, John (Velvet) Perry, Jr of Casa Grande, AZ, and William Perry of Greenwood, MS, three Daughters, Michon (Mark) Touchstone of Charleston, TN, Michelle (Jon) Loveless of Greenwood, MS, and Shelia (Lance) Smith of Greenwood, MS, two Sisters, Nancy (James) Jackson of Greenwood, MS, and Sharon (Johnny) Bratton of Huntsville, AL, ten Grandchildren, John Perry III, Savannah Perry, Santannah Perry, Turner Touchstone, Clay Perry, Cameron Touchstone, Holden Loveless, Harrison Loveless, Wade Smith, Perry Smith, four great grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 10, 2014 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Larry Edwards, and Dennis Sullivan will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Turner Touchstone, Clay Perry, Holden Loveless, Cameron Touchstone, Harrison Loveless, Wade Smith, Perry Smith, Perry Jackson, Jim Jackson, Mark Touchstone, Jon Loveless, and Lance Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dorcey Blount, Marvin Acy, Bob Beard, Billy Acy, Robert Stone, and Billy Ray Mitchell. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to New Hope Cemetery fund, New Hope Church, or Mount Olive Baptist Church. Wilson and Knight Funeral Home is in charge.
