John David Teal , Sr . 74, of Sidon, MS, died Monday, August 5, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home with visitation 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. George Mims and Rev. Kerry Nelson will be officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Teal was born March 19, 1945 to Robert Vassar Teal, Sr. and Annie Mae Presson Teal in Greenwood, MS. He was a lifetime member of Phillipston Baptist Church. He was retired from the Greenwood Fire Department as assistant chief in 1987 and later retired from Scott Petroleum. He enjoyed yard work and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, RV Teal, Jr.; and sisters, Wilna King, Hazel Moss, Carolyn Teal, and Alice Teal.

Mr. Teal is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Teal of Sidon, MS; daughters, Dena McDonald and husband Brian of Madison, MS, and Darnell Perkins and husband Brad of Carrollton, MS; son, John David Teal, Jr. and wife Starr of Carrollton, MS; two sisters, Eleanor Nelson of Thaxton, MS, and May Sykes of Greenwood, MS; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kerry Nelson, Charlie Sykes, Clay Sykes, Kelly Sykes, Randy King, and Casey Alderman.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Phillipston Baptist Church, 206 CR 364, Sidon, MS 38954.
