John "Johnny" W. Sproles, 83, of Greenwood, MS, died Monday, January 24, 2022 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home with visitation 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton, MS. Rev. Ed McDaniel will officiate.

Mr. Sproles was born February 27, 1938 in Greenwood, MS, to Jesse Sproles and Lucy Ann Garrard Sproles. Johnny was a fine Christian man who loved God with all his heart. He met the love of his life when they were only eleven years old. He was married to the late Wanda Sproles for 62 years before she passed away. When he was 17 he started working for Mr. Norris at Norris Bookbinding Company in Greenwood, MS. In 1993, Johnny and his brother, Charles bought the business and has been working there ever since, alongside his daughter since 1994. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle and watch Ole Miss games. He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Tammy; son, Jay; sister, Ann Burnham; and a great-granddaughter, Charli Jo.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Nila Gardner  (Bud) of Greenwood, MS; grandsons, Wilson Gardner ( Holley) of Starkville, MS, and Matthew Gardner (Mandi) of Water Valley, MS; granddaughter,  Kylie Wilkerson ( Ben) of Oxford, MS; and great grandchildren, Mia Gardner, Brady Gardner, Aiden Johnson, Baelon Gardner, and Josephine Wilkerson; brother, Charles Sproles of Winona, MS; and two sisters, Patsy Allison of Tippo, MS, and Belinda Clolinger of Greenwood, MS.

Pallbearers will be Bud Gardner, Wilson Gardner, Matthew Gardner, Ben Wilkerson, Charles Sproles, and Gib Sproles.
