John E. "Jack" Williams, Jr., 90, died Thursday, April 26, 2018.

Jack was born on October 24, 1927 to the late Ellis and Blanche Williams of Morgan City, MS. He is survived by one sister, Clark Williams.

Jack, a retired farmer, was the husband of Mary Elyette Williams, to whom he was married for over 62 years. Mary Elyette died in December 2012. Jack is also survived by two children, John E. Williams III of Morgan City, MS, and Kathleene J. Lee of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, David L. Lee of Washington, DC, Parker L. Lincoln of Atlanta, GA, Betsy W. Sanders of Memphis, TN, Nancy W. Ball of Birmingham, AL, and Claire W. Dempsey of Jackson, TN; and eight great grandchildren. He had adopted his five grand in-laws as his own.

Jack retired from farming in 1985 having raised cotton, soybeans, and rice for nearly 40 years. Upon retirement, he and Mary Elyette enjoyed traveling abroad and visiting their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 th , 2018 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, with a graveside service on Monday morning April 30 th , 2018 11:00 a.m. at the South Side Cemetery in Inverness, MS.

Pall bearers will be his four nephews, L. Scott Poindexter of Inverness, Fred J. Poindexter of Morgan City, Will Green Poindexter of Inverness, and Robert Van Poindexter of Inverness, his grandson, David L. Lee, and his four grandson-in-laws, Roger Ball, Jesse Lincoln, Andrew Sanders, and Kyle Dempsey.   Mr. Bill Toler of Inverness, and Mr. Harry Carter of Greenwood, will serve as honorary pall bearers.

The family asks that memorials be given either to All Saints' Episcopal Church of Inverness, MS or St Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
