Joseph William Cobb, Jr., 76, passed away on September 17, 2022, at his home in Ellisville, MS, with his son by his side.

Memorial graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2022 in Itta Bena Cemetery.

Mr. Cobb was born on February 1, 1946 in Greenwood, MS, to the late Joseph Sr. and Mary Ellen Cobb. He was a 1964 graduate of Leflore County High School in Itta Bena, MS, as well as Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, MS, Delta State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

Mr. Cobb was a retired school teacher having taught at several schools in Mississippi. He was an elementary school principal at Beaumont, MS, and Buckataune, MS. He was a member of the Hattiesburg Seven Day Adventist Church where he was an elder. He also enjoyed writing letters to the editors of the Greenwood Commonwealth. Mr. Cobb loved the Lord and his family.

He is survived by his former wife and best friend, Eileen Cobb of Hattiesburg; son, Charles (Amber) Cobb of Ellisville; grand pup, Elsa Leanne; one "special son" John Wilhite of Greenwood and his daughter, Amber; aunt, Gertrude Perritt of McKenzie, TN; "one sister" Judy (John) Wade of Paris, TN; his devoted caretaker, Clara (Dennis) Thronhill of Laurel, MS; and seven cousins, Idelle Lambert, Jean (Thomas) Davis, Michael (Mary Rose) Carter, Kirk (Paula) Carter, Allen (Lela) Carter, Kaye (Steve) Moncrief, and Patty Wong.
