Joseph Collier Tillman, 21, of Schlater, Mississippi, died Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Starkville, Mississippi. Joseph was born on April 3, 1995 in Grenada, Mississippi. He graduated from Pillow Academy in 2013 as Salutatorian of his class. While at Pillow, Joseph was a manager of the football team for 5 years and a member of the soccer team where he achieved many honors. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood, where he participated in several World Changer trips and a Mission Trip to Big Heart Orphanage in Reynosa, Mexico.
After graduating from Pillow, Joseph attended Mississippi State University where he majored in Marketing. He interned this summer at UAB Hospital in Bessemer, Alabama. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and sporting clays. He was an All-American shooter, an activity he shared with his father and brother.
Joseph is survived by his father, Marvin Collier Tillman Jr; his mother, Bea Lovelace Tillman; his brother, Carty Tillman and his wife Ashley, and his sister, Bethany Tillman.
His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. M.C. "Jake" Tillman of Minter City, Mississippi. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Lovelace and Ms. Beth Lovelace, all of Jackson.
Joseph is remembered by all who know him for his bright smile and lively personality. During his life, he touched many lives and had many great adventures. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, Mississippi and 9:00 – 10:00 am Thursday at First Baptist Church Greenwood with the service to follow at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at McNutt Cemetery Schlater, Mississippi.
