Services for Juanita Lusk Harper will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 10:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.

Mrs. Harper, age 80, passed away peacefully on Christmas night a little after 6pm Sunday, December 25, 2016 with her family at The Nichols Center in Madison, MS, of heart failure brought on by end-stage Alzheimer's.

She was born on April 07, 1936 in Indianola, MS, to the late Jefferson Virgil and Lorene Elizabeth King Lusk and resided most of her life in the countryside farmland area known as Blue Top of Itta Bena, MS. She attended Mississippi Delta Junior College for Interior Design and Creative Art. She married Luther S Harper Sr and they had 5 children. She retired from Mississippi Delta Junior College after eleven years of service as the secretary of the athletic department. Mrs. Harper was a member of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS. She also was the owner and operator of Harper's Cracker Barrel at Blue Top of Itta Bena, MS where she took pride and cooked a many of spectacular good tasting food for all and she was well known for her salad dressing that everyone delighted in tasting with any kind of vegetable to just good old plain crackers. She took such pleasure and gratification in taking care of the appearance of the family estate which was like a local landmark between Greenville and Greenwood where she loved planting flowers, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther S. Harper, Sr, and a son, Anthony J. Harper.

She is survived by her Daughter, Lucretia Lorene Harper Britt of Collierville, TN; three sons, Samuel Lusk Harper of Bellingham, WA, Walter Lee Harper III and Luther S. Harper Jr. of Fulton, MS; seven grandchildren Sarah Harper Asa Harper Nathan Harper of Aztec, New Mexico, Samuel Harper Jr of Ferndale, WA, Hunter Lee Harper of Crestview, FL Haley Browning of Holcomb, MS, Juanita Ashton Whitty of Harrisville,MS and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Domino Bellipanni, Shea Lusk, Rodney Higginbotham, Hunter Lee Harper and honorary pallbearer is Larry Bennett. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Friday December 30, 2016 at their family Braxton Cemetery in Braxton, MS.
