Services for Mrs. Julia Bernice Denton Smith will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 11:00 AM at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith, age 94, died on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS.

She was born on December 8, 1928 in Greenwood, MS, to the late Curtis Counts and Erma Counts. She worked at Sunnyside Elementary School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Boyle. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arliss Clanton, Johnnie Denton, and Hubert Smith; daughter, Dorothy Jewel Lewis; sister, Dorothy Baker; and brothers, Don Counts and Elmer Counts.

She is survived by her sons John (Lee Ann) Denton of Florence, MS, and William Clanton, of West Monroe, LA; daughters, Pam Contreras of Cleveland, MS, Shelia (David) Jennings of Schlater, MS, and Wanda (Robert) Medadders of Rosedale, MS; brother, Curtis (Juaneze) Counts of Schlater, MS; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Clarence Edwards will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Thomas Counts, Ronnie Counts, Don Counts Jr., Charlie Frost, Johnny Denton, and Michael Jennings. Burial will be in McNutt Cemetery.
