Kenneth "Kim" Charles Daves, 52, died July 29, 2015.
Kim Was born on August 30, 1952 to the late Bertie Daves and the late Reginald "Ridge" Daves.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 tonight at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 2:00 pm, also at the Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Black Hawk Methodist Church Cemetery in Black Hawk.
Kim was a cattle operator and co-owner of K&M Farm, as well as the co-owner of K&M Grocery, LLC for 23 years. He also worked part time at the Winona Stockyard. He was a 1981 graduate of Carroll Academy and a 1983 graduate of Holmes Community College. Kim was a member of the Black Hawk Hunting Club of Holly Bluff and a founding member of the Black Hawk Country Club.
Kim was a loving husband, father, and Pop. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Daves, of 30 years, by his 4 children, Jessica Cortez and husband Gage of Des Allemands, LA, Lee Daves and Mark Wiggins of Black Hawk, Ken Daves of Black Hawk, and Amy Daves of Black Hawk. He is survived by his 3 grandsons, Austin Daves (7), Eli Wiggins (5 Months), and Rhett Cortez (2 weeks). He is also survived by his 4 sisters, Louise Hopper of Coila, Thelma Holderfield of Texas, Judy Haley of Grenada, and Angie Love of Kilmichael, and the late Lavern Thomas and the late Jean Dittman, as well as 1 brother Carl Daves of Black Hawk.
Pallbearers include Bubba Daves, Bo Ellis, Lamar Jenkins, Daryl Barrett, Brock Peacock, and Billy "Jr" Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers include Terrence Cortez, Cliff Booth, Bob Beard, Ray Welch, Malone Dunn, members of the Black Hawk Hunting Club, and fellow employees of the Winona Stockyard.
Kim will be remembered as a hard worker who was honest and dependable. He was also devoted to helping his fellow neighbors.
