Obituary

Lillian Mark Kwong passed away at the age of 93 on Sunday, October 6, 2019, in Quincy, MA. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS, on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Lillian was born in Providence, RI, on August 13, 1926 to Chung Ming Mark and Ho Hou. In 1929, she moved to China where she spent most of her childhood and married Chat Hang Kwong. She migrated back to the U. S. in 1956 and reunited with her father and siblings in New England. In 1964, Lillian came to Greenwood in search of a new business venture. Here, she and her husband reared seven children while owning and operating three grocery stores and later a restaurant.

Lillian had a huge, generous heart and loved her family dearly. She was known for her compassion toward others and her incredible talent as a cook. She enjoyed being with family and friends, but especially took pride in all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Chat Hang Kwong, and her siblings, TK Mark, Ming Kong Mark, Etta Chin, John Mark, Louis Mark, Lincoln Mark, and Linda Lee.

She is survived by her seven children, Betty Joe (Johnny) of Arlington, TX, Raymond Kwong (Becky) of Greenwood, MS, Lydia Wong (Sam) of New York, NY, Karen Chow (late husband, Louis) of Brookline, MA, Richard Kwong of Arlington, TX, Cathy Mai (Weifu "Matthew") of Greenwood, MS, and Ryan Kwong (Ginny) of New Smyrna Beach, FL. She is also survived by a brother, Anthony Mark (Judy) of Fairhaven, MA, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian's grandson-in-law, Lucas Law will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Chris Kwong, Jonathan Wong, Joshua Joe, Ethan Mai, Kyle Kwong, and Paul Wayne Fitts.

Wilson and Knight Funeral Home is in charge.
