Lois Juanita Carpenter Martin, "Nita," 92, died Saturday August 15, 2015 at Broadway Healthcare Center in West Memphis, Arkansas. She was born March 26, 1923 in Bolivar County, MS. She was the daughter of Johnnie Emmett Carpenter and Lula Mae Ware Carpenter. She attended school in Carroll County, MS and moved to Greenwood MS in 1943. She was employed at Wyler's Jewelry Store until 1953. She sold Avon products and worked for Surman and Harmon out of Memphis, TN until she retired in 1988. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Roland Clifford Martin, one older brother, William Bernie Carpenter, and one younger brother, Jiles Thomas Carpenter. She is survived by her son Johnnie Roland Martin, "John," and his wife, Cynthia Ann Larsen Martin, "Cindy," of Memphis, TN and Cleburne County, AR, a sister-in-law, Mary Gladys Carpenter of Carroll County, MS, seven nephews and four nieces. She was a devout Methodist, attending Enon United Methodist Church until joining St. John's United Methodist Church shortly after its inception.
Visitation will be held at Wilson and Knight Funeral home Tuesday August 18 from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. A graveside memorial service will be held at Enon United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m.
