Services for Lomie Jean Duggins Jones, 83, of Greenwood, who passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. The Rev. Peter Gray will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was born in Carroll County on May 11, 1932, the daughter of Mary Ellen Mims Duggins and Lee McEachern Duggins. She grew up in Carroll County and attended J.Z. George, where she was a member of the girls' basketball team. She moved to Greenwood with her family and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1951. At Greenwood High she was a member of the girls' basketball team and participated in Girls' Chorus, Y-Teens, 4-H Club, and Future Homemakers of America. Mrs. Jones was an avid bowler and a member of the Delta Bowl Weevils League in Greenwood. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, and she was a longtime employee of Supreme Electronics and Phil's Squire Shoppe. Perhaps her greatest enjoyment was cooking. A great cook, she took pleasure in cooking for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles "Charlie" Jonas Jones, Jr., and a brother, Harold Duggins.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jean "Jeanie" Jones Yazdi and a son-in-law Mehdi Yazdi of Columbia, SC, a grandson Ali Yazdi of Charlotte, NC, two granddaughters Mina and Leila Yazdi of Columbia, SC, two sisters, Charlotte Duggins Turner of Greenwood and Bessie Duggins Strickland of Columbia, TN, five nieces, two nephews, and several great and great, great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dent Turner, Layne Turner, Max Shaw, Allen Andrews, Robert Ezell, Richard Carpenter, and Michael Bowers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Beckwith, Bill Strickland, Bernard Duggins, Clayton Duggins, Doug Mims, Charles Mims, Kenny Mims, Jimmy Mims, and James Barrentine.

Memorials may be made to Episcopal Church of the Nativity or a charity of the donor's choice.
