Services for Luther Samuel Harper, Jr. will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.
Mr. Harper, age 55, passed away peacefully at 4:32 pm Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, MS, of Pneumonia which was induced by contracting the Coronavirus.
He was born on December 31, 1965 in Greenwood, MS, to the late Luther Samuel Harper, Sr. and Juanita Lusk Harper. For most of his life he resided in the countryside farmland known as Blue Top near Itta Bena, and also Greenwood. He was a graduate of Pillow Academy in 1984 and attended Mississippi Delta Community College thereafter. Mr. Harper was a member of First Baptist Church of Itta Bena. He was known by his family and friends who loved him, as "Sonny Boy" or "Bunn." He was most well known for being an energetic poker and blackjack dealer at the Jubilee and Lighthouse Point Casinos in Greenville, MS, for nearly 15 years. Additionally, he worked as a finance consultant serving the Mississippi Delta Community. Sonny Boy will be remembered for his lively personality, kind heart and his ability to instill happiness and joy into every life he touched. He is preceded in death by his father, Luther Samuel Harper, Sr., mother, Juanita Lusk Harper, and brother, Anthony J. Harper.
He is survived by his sister, Lucretia Lorene Harper Britt of Anchorage, AK; two brothers, Samuel Lusk Harper of Bellingham, WA, and Walter Lee Harper III of Fulton, MS; seven nieces and nephews, Hunter Lee Harper of San Antonio, TX, Juanita Ashton Whitty of Harrisville, MS, Hayley Browning of Fulton, MS, Sarah Harper, Asa Harper, and Nathan Harper all of Aztec, New Mexico, Samuel Harper, Jr. of Ferndale, WA; and nine great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Due to the pandemic masks will be required at the visitation and services.
