Madison "Matt" Dale, Jr. 72, of Greenwood died Thursday, November 6, 2014 after a brief illness. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at Episcopal Church of Nativity in Greenwood. Visitation will be 2p.m. until service time Monday, November 10, 2014 at the church. Rev. Lynn Ronaldi will officiate.

Mr. Dale is survived by his wife Sara Ann Dale of Greenwood, two daughters Ellen Dale O'Neal and Kathryn Dale Roland of Madison, MS one step-daughter Kathy Diehl of Greenwood, two step-sons Rusty Hambrick of Grenada, and Gerry Carter of Horseshoe, , two brothers James Y. Dale of Greenwood, and Danny Dale of Glendora. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dale was born in Greenwood to Madison and Ellen Yeager Dale. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Mississippi State University (the # 1 football team in the nation). He lived and farmed Ellendale Plantation in Glendora for most of his life. He was a member of the Glendora Lions Club, Vice president of Albin Gin Company, served on the Board of Farmers Supply Cooperative, co-founder and vice president of Mississippi Hill and Delta Savings and Loan in Sumner, co-founder of Viking Range Corporation serving on Viking's Board of Directors and its Executive Board. He also was a member of Delta Wildlife Federation, a member of Delta Council, serving as the vice chairman of the Flood Control Committee. He was a member of Mississippi Wildlife Federation serving as the Board President in 1990. He was also a member of the Greenwood farmers club and a member of the nature Conservancy. He had a membership in the national Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited and Delta Wildlife.
Mr. Dale was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Sumner. He was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. He was crowned King of the Junior Auxiliary Cotton Ball in 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha "Pi" Stribling Dale and his parents. In conclusion Matt would say "HAIL STATE!!!"
