Services for Mamie Brewer Turner will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 11:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.

Miss. Turner, age 85, died on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Providence Assisted Living in Grenada, MS.

She was born on November 16, 1936 to the late William K. Turner, Sr and Evelyn Sayle Turner. She was a graduate from Greenwood High School, Mississippi State College for Women, and University of Mississippi Medical Center where she received a Master's degree in medical technology, and also received honors at each school. She worked at several hospitals in MS. She was the director of the lab at St. Dominic, UMC, and Hancock General Hospital in Gulfport. She also was the director of the lab at University West FL Hospital in Pensacola, FL. She helped organize MS Blood Services and the MS Blood Bank. She enjoyed making cookies and candy for her family at Christmas because her family meant the world to her.  She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Grenada Chapter of the DAR, Greater Ministries of Christ, and First United Methodist Church in Grenada. She was also a volunteer for Junior Auxiliary at Grenada Medical Center in the gift shop.

She is survived by her brother, William K. Turner, Jr of Grenada, MS, and over 100 cousins from over five generations.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Scott Wright will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be David Sayle, Joseph Sayle, John Towns Sayle, Chris Elmore, John Wayne Elmore, Ben B Sayle, Jr, Willard Brown, and Joe Harold Johnson III. Honorary Pallbearers will be her cousins. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
