Margaret McDaniel Galey died on December 14, 2017 at Magnolia Manor Assisted Living in Tupelo, MS. She was surrounded by family and her caretakers. She was born to Rodney and Grace McDaniel, February 10, 1929 in Greenwood, MS. She married Harold Donald Galey on May 21, 1949. Before his death in 2004, Donald and Margaret had celebrated their 55th anniversary.
Margaret had been living at Magnolia Manor the last five years of her life. She had many friends there and many great caretakers that loved her as their own. They made the last years of her life very enjoyable for her. Margaret was known for her sewing ability, hard work, love for her family and most of all, her love for Jesus. She made sure her family was stocked with fresh veggies from her garden. She enjoyed cooking for anyone especially all her "boys" that came to hunt on her land. She made sure they all had breakfast before heading out into the woods.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Lonnie H. Galey of Greenwood, MS, and Louie H. Galey, Sr. (Glenda Carpenter) of Double Springs, AL; three grandchildren, Louie H. Galey, Jr. (Alisha Wright) of Brandon, MS, Amy Galey Callahan(Timmy) of New Albany, MS, and Jennifer Galey Richardson of Joliet, IL; six great grandchildren, Addie, Sonny, Calvin, Sami, Ethan and Jacob; sister Lorene Overby; sister-in-law, Anne McDaniel, and three nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, (Billy Mac). Friends and family are invited to a visitation and service at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS. Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 am.in the chapel. Interment will follow the service Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton, MS. Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate.
