Greenwood, MS: Mrs. Margaret Anne Holmes Lipe, 81, died March 17, 2014, after a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Greenwood, Mississippi, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Peter Gray will officiate. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., in the Parish Hall at the Church. At a later date her remains will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery at Sumner, Mississippi.

Margaret Anne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carl Thomas Lipe; a daughter, Margaret Holmes Lipe Miles; a granddaughter, Meghan Webb Miles, all of Greenwood; and a nephew and niece, Louis Sebastian Zehnder III, of Decatur, Texas; and May Lipe Mintz (Bruce), of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Earl and Margaret Burke Holmes, of Newton, Mississippi.

Margaret Anne was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. After graduating from Yazoo High School, she received an Associate's Degree from the Mississippi State College for Women, and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and a Top Ten Beauty. She made many lifetime friends while she was at Yazoo City High School, the "W," and Ole Miss.

Upon graduation, Margaret Anne began her career as a teacher. She taught at McWillie School in Jackson; St. Mary's in Memphis; St. George's in Clarksdale; and the Presbyterian Day School in Greenwood. She was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood, where she served on the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Episcopal Church Women, the Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Greenwood Garden Club.

Margaret Anne lived life to its fullest. She loved to travel, to meet friends in New Orleans, and to go on "girl trips" to Destin with her Ya-Ya's. She loved her older relatives and the people she knew in nursing homes, and she would sit and listen to their wisdom as long as time allowed. Her enthusiasm and curiosity overflowed and enchanted those around her. She was very outgoing and one had to watch her beautiful blue eyes when they started to sparkle because sure enough, another plan for fun was hatching.   Each meal she ate was "the best meal I've ever eaten." Each sermon was "the best sermon I've ever heard." May her infectious enthusiasm and optimism live on.
