Services for Mary Flo Blackstone of Greenwood will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Greenwood, MS.
Mrs. Blackstone, age 78, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Golden Age Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 27, 1940 in Clarksdale, MS, to the late George Bernard and Florene Tramel Walker and has resided in Greenwood since her marriage in 1960. She was a member of the Leflore County High School class of 1958. She earned an Associate's Degree from Mississippi Delta Junior College. Mrs. Blackstone's business career began with the Bank of Commerce at the age of 19 as a "Runner". She served as a Bank Officer from 1985 until retirement. After 47 years of service at the Bank of Commerce she retired in the position of Assistant Cashier. She enjoyed traveling with her family and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Some of her greatest joys were her relationship with her Lord, the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her only grandchild, Molley and all of her customers and co-workers at the Bank of Commerce.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hartwell "Botts" Blackstone, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Edward Hartwell (Jenay) Blackstone III of Greenwood, MS; granddaughter, Molley Blackstone of Greenwood, MS; two brothers, Bernard Walker (Sharon) of Friendswood, TX, and Wayne E. (Kay) Walker of Itta Bena, MS; and a sister, Dianne (Edgar) Smith of Inverness, MS.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, and on Thursday from 1:00 PM until service time at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Brad Hodges will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Wayne E. Walker, Tom Tramel, Daniel Kunefke, David Taylor, Steve Mitchell and William Buckley. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bill Jones, the green wing nurses and staff at Golden Age Nursing Home and the staff at Indywood Glen, Greenwood.
Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
