Mary Lindsey Farrish, 94, of Greenwood, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022. She walked faithfully with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, under whose authority she maintained a successful marriage, raised four children, and rejoiced in having numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson and Knight funeral home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Linkins officiating.
Mary was born in Cleveland, Mississippi, on October 4, 1927 to Thomas Jefferson and Lottie Lipe Lindsey and grew up in Cleveland and Greenwood, where she graduated from Greenwood High School. She married Army soldier John Melvin Farrish on June 30, 1945. Their 67 years of marriage lasted until his passing in 2012. Mary worked with Melvin for 40 years as the office manager of their road construction business. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to MS Road Building Conventions, and she enjoyed her weekly bridge games with close friends.
Mrs. Farrish was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Greenwood Woman's Club, and O'Bera Garden Club. She was also a member of the First Christian Church and the Explorers Bible Study.
She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Carol Farrish; son, John Melvin Farrish, Jr.; grandson, David Naugher; sisters, Lois Prewitt, Allie Mae Stephens, and Patricia Lindsey; and brothers, John E. and Thomas J. Lindsey.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Farrish Naugher (Henry) of North Little Rock, AR, and Judy Farrish Johnson (Parker) of Greenwood, MS; son, David Nelson Farrish of Ridgeland, MS; daughter in law, Patricia Patridge Farrish; grandchildren, Laura Cook (Bruce), Amy Isome (Jeremy), John M. Farrish, III (Danielle), Mary Lindsey Smith (Scott), Dr. Henry Johnson (Ashley), Aidan Farrish, and Brennan Farrish; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margie Wilburn.
Wilson and Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
