Mary Lucas Quackenboss Fedric

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.

Mary Lucas Quackenboss Fedric, 91, departed this world for her Heavenly home Wednesday morning, June 20th, at her residence.

Mrs. Fedric, a homemaker, was born in Memphis, TN, on November 30, 1926, to Hal Buckingham and Mary Lucas Quackenboss. She was raised on Glen Burr Plantation in Greenwood.  She attended Greenwood Public Schools until her senior year, which she completed at All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg.  After graduation, she went to Belhaven College for her freshman year.  Upon completion of her freshman year, she returned home to Glen Burr to help care for her ailing father.  In June of 1948, she married Dr. Robert Mayes Fedric, a local dentist.  They lived in Greenwood until he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Turner Air Force Base in Albany, GA.  During their two years there, their oldest son was born.  They moved back to Greenwood in 1957 where Dr. Fedric established his dental practice.  They lived out their lives in Greenwood where they were blessed with three more children and fifty-nine years of marriage before the passing of her husband in 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Mayes Fedric, and her eldest son, Robert Mayes Fedric Jr.

She is survived by two sisters, Eloise Quackenboss of Greenwood, and Sarah Quackenboss French of Norwalk, CT; two daughters, Mary Lu Fedric Thompson (Tim) of Schlater, and Elizabeth Fedric Sevier (Andrew) of Greenwood; one son, James Edward Fedric (Mireya) of Lafayette, LA; five grandchildren, Mary Clair Thompson Shelton (Joel), of Durham, NC, Dorothy Ellen Thompson of Birmingham, AL, Nathan Christopher Thompson of Tupelo, MS, William Timothy Thompson of Huntsville, AL, and Abigail Elizabeth Sevier of Greenwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Hal Fiori, Timothy Thompson, Nathan Thompson, William Thompson, Bobby Laster, and Butch Hammack.

Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 23rd at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.
