Mary O'Wanda Shipp passed on to be with the Lord on August 10, 2015 in the comfort of her own home in Greenwood, MS at the age of 87.
A private memorial service was held August12, 2015 at Wilson & Knight funeral home in Greenwood with scripture reading on the "Promise of Heaven" by Jim Phillips. Burial will be in Interstate Baptist Church Cemetery in Shaw, MS.
She was born to the late John Tom Forbes and Sophronia Mitchel on July 4, 1928 and raised in Boyle along with five older brothers.
As a graduate of Delta State University with degrees in Music and Education, she enjoyed working in both fields throughout her life. She was preceded in death by husband Dr. Millard Bennett (they worked together in ministry in churches in Drew and Inverness, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas) as well as a granddaughter Misty Lynn Bedell of Texas.
She is survived by her husband Robert Shipp of Greenwood, MS, a daughter Christie Bennett of Texas, a son Asa (Lydia) Bennett and their four children Lasa, Bay, Bobby and Hayes of Greenwood, MS.
