Mary Nell Nutt Tyler died Saturday, October 15 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital at the age of 86. She was born on September 25, 1930 in Ludlow, MS. Ms. Tyler was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Greenwood.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Joel Wasson Tyler of Greenwood, by her parents Curtis Lee Nutt and Alma Harvey Nutt of Houston, TX, a brother Guy Harvey Nutt of Houston, TX and sister Mary Kathryn Tyler Lipe of Greenwood, MS. She loved watching Atlanta Braves, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by children Joel Tyler Jr of Greenwood, Myra Tyler Fondren and Tim of Sidon, MS, and Mark Tyler and Amanda of Flowood, MS. She loved and cherished her grandchildren Dr. John Mark Tyler and Dr. Shelly Tyler of Owensboro, KT, Dr. Mary Kathryn Wilson and Cristopher of Greenwood, Hannah Tyler Farris and Caanan of Birmingham, AL, Katie Summers Hunt and Bedford of Senatobia, MS, Tyler Harris Fondren of Starkville, MS, Nicholas Tyler, Brandon Tyler, and Christopher Tyler of Tupelo, MS, and great grandchildren Grayson Tyler, Corban Wilson and Paxton Tyler. She is also survived by a brother Lee Nutt of Checotah, OK and sister-in-law Nancy Allison Nutt of Houston, TX along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday October 17 at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 10:00 am at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery following the services. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Service will be officiated by Dr. Jim Phillips and Brother Dennis McKay.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or North Greenwood Baptist Church.
