Obituary

Mary Jane Wilson, beloved mother and friend, passed away on May 27th, 2023, in Greenwood, MS, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Her final moments were spent peacefully in Greenwood with her devoted daughters by her side. She was 70 years old.

Mary Jane was born March 6, 1953 in Memphis, TN, and was known for her sharp sense of humor and love for music and dance. She was a 1971 graduate of White Station High School and attended Memphis State University where she became a lifelong Memphis Tigers fan. Mary Jane was a beautiful singer who over the years enjoyed performing in the Memphis City Sound Chorus and her treasured Sweet Adelines quartet, "Notoriety".

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, George N. and Dorothy Neal Ferguson of Memphis, and two brothers, James "Jim" Neal Ferguson and George W. "Woody" Ferguson. She is survived by daughters, Monica Jane Barton (Derek) of Bloomington, IL, and Melanie Wilson Hodges (Matthew) of Birmingham, AL, three grandchildren, Wyatt Barton (8), Erica Barton (6), and Vaida Hodges (4), brother, Dale Ferguson of Lexington, KY, and closest friend in life, Priscilla Metcalfe Hutton of Collierville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mary Jane's honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
