Nazira T. Antoon, 94, of Greenwood died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Crystal Health and Rehab. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Father Greg Plata OFM will officiate.
Ms. Antoon was born July 31, 1922 to Joseph and Helen Sliman Antoon in Greenwood. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School Class of 1939 and attended Mississippi State College for Women. She was a lifelong communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of the Sodality at IHM.
After graduation she worked as a buyer in the family business, Antoon's Dry Goods Company, which was in business for 90 years. "Zee" was a member of The Early Families Club and The Greenwood Matinee Musical Club, where she played the cello with the club's String Ensemble.
Ms. Antoon was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lydia Antoon Salloum and Mary Catherine Antoon Salloum; brothers, Edward Antoon, Lawrence Antoon, and Dewey Antoon, and niece, Lydia Salloum Werby.
She is survived by two nieces, Isabell Salloum Haggar of Dallas, TX, and Mary Evalyn Antoon Thomas of Jackson, MS, and nephew, Mitchell Salloum, Jr. of Gulfport, MS.
Memorials may be sent to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Greenwood, MS, or a favorite charity.
