Nellie Downs Wier

May 20, 1933 - August 3, 2020

Nellie Downs Wier, age 87, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 at her home in Money, MS. She has resided in Money, MS, for 65 years in which many of those were spent as the owner of Money Cash Grocery.  She attended North Park Church of God of Prophecy and loved spending time with her family.

She was born on May 20, 1933 in Vaiden, MS, to the late David and Maggie Self Downs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carlton Wier; infant son, Charles Carlton Wier, Jr.; and two brothers, Jim Downs and Charles Downs.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Smith of Carrollton, MS; two sons, Johnny (Kay) Wier of Money, MS, and Mike Wier of Money, MS; four grandchildren, Wayne (Sandi) Wier, Carlton (Kellie) Wier, Brad (Amanda) Wier, and Kevin (Amber) Wier; five great grandchildren; Hunter Wier, McCarley Wier, Alaina Wier, Jordin Wier, and Presley Wier; sister, Louise Gainey of Martin, TN; and a brother, Paul Downs of Oxford, MS.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood, MS. Rev. Robbie Wier will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Wayne Wier, Carlton Wier, Brad Wier, Kevin Wier, Hunter Wier, and Jason Wier. Wilson & Knight is in charge of services.
