Pamela Shepherd Holmes, 69, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at her home in Greenwood, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19 at 11 o'clock a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Greenwood. Services will be preceded by a visitation at the church at 10 o'clock. Reverend Dennis Gossett will officiate.
Pamela Shepherd was born to Elmer Smith and Mattie Elizabeth Shepherd in Tunica, MS, where she spent her formative years. She graduated from Tunica High School. After marrying and moving to Greenwood, she taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian for many years and became an active and integral member of the First United Methodist church for over forty years. At the church, she taught Sunday school & Bible school classes. Pam was a member of the church choir and acted as choir director for a time as well as taking on the duties of pianist and organist over the years. She served as Youth Director and most recently as Bookkeeper for the church. She was an excellent pianist having played since she was a small child. Through the years, she took joy in sewing, gardening, reading, collecting miniatures, and seeing her grandchildren grow up. Her friends and the church were a very important part of her life and gave her much joy.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of forty seven years, Harrison L. Holmes; two children, Elizabeth Holmes Stewart (Seth) of Nashville, TN and Harrison L. Homes Jr. (Jessica) of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Anderson Stewart, Charles Stewart, Stella Stewart, and Harrison L. Holmes III, all of Nashville, TN.
Pallbearers will be Harris Powers, Jr., Equen Rhodes, Bob Milam, Jim Chick, Anderson Stewart, and Charles Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the First United Methodist Church.
