Services for Randle Rupert Makamson, Sr. will be held Saturday, December 09, 2017 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS.
Mr. Makamson, age 92, died on Thursday, December 07, 2017 at Riverview Nursing Home.
He was born on December 21, 1924 in Morgan City, MS, to the late Gay Barron and Minnie Pierce Makamson. Mr. Makamson was a graduate of Morgan City High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WW II. He was a retired farmer, and a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Itta Bena. He is preceded in death his wife, Lucille Makamson; three brothers, Rev. Durrell Makamson, Rex B. Makamson, and Carl Kenneth Makamson; and a sister, Minnie Gay Bidwell.
He is survived by his son, Randle (Bobbye Gayle) Makamson, Jr. of Itta Bena, MS; three daughters, Linda Gail (Jim) Hohman of Hays, KS, Gloria Jean Barton of Athens, GA, and Sandra Gay (Mike) Thornton of Brandon, MS; sister, Mary Ellen Woodard of Natchez, MS, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Carter Makamson, Palmer Brock, Morgan Springfield, Bradley Ricks, Scott Newman, Jarrod Prichett, Nick Schmidt, and Blake Waltman. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Itta Bena. Interment will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital, Baptist Children's Village, or First Baptist Church in Itta Bena. Wilson & Knight is in charge. Online guest book may be signed at www.wilsonandknight.com
