Rayburn Cheek, 86, of Greenwood, MS, died October 5, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. Services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 2:00 PM graveside in Moore's Memorial Cemetery with visitation from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Corbett will officiate the services.
Mr. Cheek was born in Carrollton, on April 4, 1938 to the late Johnnie Cheek and Maggie Cheek. He retired from Baldwin Piano and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran. He was known by his grandchildren as Papaw, and he loved spending time with them. He is preceded in by his parents; wife, Elouise Cheek; and two brothers, Buddy Cheek and Alton Cheek.
He is survived by his two daughters, Donna (Joe) Roberts of Kosciusko, MS, and Dana (Kenny) Joiner of Kosciusko, MS; sister, Bobbie (Billy) Acy of Blackhawk, MS; five grandchildren, Adam (Haylee) Ferguson, Natalie Joiner, Austin Joiner, Maggie Joiner, and Jason (Emily) Roberts; and three great grandchildren, Zachary "Zac" Ferguson, Elijah Roberts, and Rush Roberts.
Pallbearers will be Joe Roberts, Kenny Joiner, Austin Joiner, Adam Ferguson, Nolen Yuille, and Ronnie Cheek.
