Raymond Scott Buford, passed away December 15, 2017 at his home after a three month battle with cancer at the age of 57. Scott was born on March 14, 1960 to Lewis Herman Buford, Jr. and Sara Stone Buford in Greenwood, MS.

Scott was passionate about his profession at the Region VI Mental Health Center (Life Help) where he served over 20 years as a maintenance technician. He carried a special love for his coworkers and the residents at the centers, especially Beacon Harbor. He also was a friend to many helping with household and appliance repairs whenever he was needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant nephew, Lewis Herman Buford IV.

He is survived by sisters, Debbie Buford Oxnam of Greenwood, MS, and Shelia Buford Flippo (James) of Enid, MS; brother, Lewis Herman "Bubba" Buford III of Greenwood, MS; nieces, Elizabeth Flippo McArthur ( Rivers )of Sardis, MS, Katie Buford Dale ( Daniel ) of Glendora, MS, and Brittany Flippo McCreary ( Daryl ) of Merigold, MS; and nephews, Bradford Truett Oxnam ( Heather) of Spring Hill , TN, and Lewis Herman Buford V ( Meredith) of Greenwood, MS. He is also survived by special caregivers and friends Tom Chester, Steve Hoffman, Deborah Stewart, Sara Frances Swindoll, Susan Bailey, Virginia Haley, and Vicki Webb.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. John Ford will officiate at the services. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Tom Chester, Carl Holland, Lewis Buford V, Charles Buford, Daniel Dale, and Larry Collins. Honorary pallbearers Kenny Walls, Steve Hoffman, James Peterson, and the people of Life Help, Denton House and Beacon Harbor.
