Robert Wayne Taylor, a lifelong resident of Half Mile died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his residence. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at West President Church of Christ. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Mark Shiers will officiate. Wilson & Knight Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

He was a man of many professions such as ginner, farmer and store operator. He loved Half Mile Hunting Club where he was an honorary member. He had a strong passion for all sports especially at Pillow Academy. He had a special bond with all children especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of West President Church of Christ. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Taylor and brother Benny Frank Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jo Duke Taylor of Schlater, three children, Robbie Buchanan of Grenada, Mickey Taylor (Melanie) of Tupelo, Kathie Thornhill (Bryan) of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Ashley O'Briant (Wade) of Yazoo City, Taylor Buchanan and Blake Buchanan (Victoria) of Grenada, Alden Thornhill and Gardner Thornhill of Greenwood, and Ryan Taylor of Jackson. He is also survived by three great grandsons, Braxton, Stokes and Spencer O'Briant of Yazoo City.
