Obituary

Rosa Maranto Correro, 100, of Greenwood, MS, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017, at Crystal Rehabilitation & Health Care.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2pm Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church followed by a funeral service at 2pm. Officiating will be Fr. Joachim Studwell, OFM.

She was a lifetime communicate of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

She was born July 19, 1917, in Greenwood, to Sam Maranto and Salvatrice Restivo Maranto. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1936.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Paul Correro; parents, Sam and Salvatrice Maranto; a brother, Joe Maranto of New Orleans, Louisiana; a sister, Camille DelMonico of Schenectady, New York; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Correro Harris of Brandon, Mississippi; and an infant great grand-daughter Ashley Correro Ellett of Greenwood, Mississippi.

She and her late husband operated a small (mom and pop) grocery store for many years. She then worked as a cashier clerk for Liberty Cash and Piggly Wiggly Grocery Stores.  Finally, she worked as a deputy clerk at Leflore County Tax Office from which she retired in 1986.

She was always a passionate Bulldog fan, beginning with Greenwood High School and followed by the Mississippi State University Bulldogs. GO DAWGS!!

She is survived by two sons, John Correro (Gloria) of Starkville, and Paul Correro (Sandra) of Greenwood; nine grandchildren: Kimberly Fandel (Steve) of Tupelo, Chris Correro (Danielle) of Madison, Jennifer Ellett (Spencer) of Gulfport, Paul Correro, Jr. (Tina) of Gulfport, Paula Pearson (Josh) of Olive Branch, Dr. William Harris (Cindy) of Ridgeland, Vincent Harris of Jackson, Todd Harris of Redondo, California and Paige Hunter (Jeff) of Brandon; nineteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dr. William Harris, Vincent Harris, Todd Harris, Will Harris, Chris Correro, Paul Correro, Jr., Vincent Paul Correro, Jacob Ellett and Peyton Fandel. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Walter Moses, nursing staff of Crystal Rehabilitation & Health Care and Legacy Hospice of Grenada.
