Services for Rosie Nell Dowd will be Sunday, August 15, 2021 2:00 pm at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Cleveland cemetery in Cleveland, MS. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the service at the funeral home.

Rosie Nell Dowd was born September 18 ^th , 1944 in a little shack located in Boyle, MS, to James Hugh Weeks and Rosie Pittman. Nell came out swinging.  She was cooking breakfast for the family at the age of 5 and left the cotton fields at the age of 15. Nell took a job at Color-Tile Manufacturer and attended beauty school at night, where she excelled. She was a workaholic. She owned her own shop and loved every customer; Her personality shined.

Sixty years later, she was still cutting hair. Nell was a genuine salesperson. She truly cared about people, how they were feeling, what their problems were, and a solution to fix them. Nell set goals and accomplished them. Nell made friends and kept them. Nell had family and loved them.

In the end, she was a beacon of hope for everybody that crossed her path. When the chips were down, Nell had your back. God rest her soul.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde and Cecil Weeks, and sister, Alene Wilson.

She is survived by her two sons, Joey (Elise) and Rob (Emily) Mallette of Cleveland; daughter, Sundai (Alex) Good of Greenwood; grandchildren, Meredith Goss, Austin Mallette, Mackenzie Mallette, Ryan Dawson Mallette, Mallory Mallette, Brooke Mallette, Raegan Mallette, Ashton Belk, Sidney Belk, Summer Belk, and Chaz Lopes; and ten great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Goss, Austin Mallette, Ryan Dawson Mallette, Ashton Belk, and Chase Brown.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Joe Cannon, Chaz Lopez, Lee Abraham, Mo Powers, Dr. Charles Nause, Dr. Joe Pressler, Jason Harvey, and Tyler Staples.

Memorials may be made to French Camp or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  Wilson and Knight is in charge of arrangements.
