RUBY CAMPBELL ALFORD
The funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Alford will be on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS with burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mrs. Ruby Campbell Alford was born on April 25, 1923, in Carroll County, Mississippi.
Ruby retired after over 35 years of service from South Central Bell where she was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the West President church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dessie Alma Carpenter Campbell, her husband Jessie Talmage Alford, Jr. and two brothers Garland Campbell and Herbert Campbell all of Greenwood, MS. She is survived by her daughters Rita Alford Daves (Bill) of Greenwood and Charlotte Alford Carpenter (Bobby) of Oxford; her son Jerry Wayne Alford (Pam)of Greenville; her sisters, Jewel Campbell Mosley of Coila and Dean Campbell (George)Winters of Gulfport; her brothers Houston Campbell of Teoc and Gilbert Campbell of Greenwood; her grandchildren Tony Carpenter (Christi) of Oxford, Dr. Tim Carpenter of Los Angeles, CA, Billy Daves (Casey) of Broken Arrow, OK, Jerry Alford, Jr. (Sangie) of Lake Village, AR, Leigh Ann Carpenter Ryan (Todd) of Oxford, Cheryl Alford Hollis (Drewitt) of Greenville, Lee Lee Daves Logan (Christopher) of Greenwood and Brooke Alford Patterson (Bruce) of Richland; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way. Her greatest joy was watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She devoted her life to God and her family.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2015, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Mark Sheirs and Dennis McKay will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Todd Ryan, Drewitt Hollis, Bruce "Hosea" Patterson, Justin Shoffner and grandsons Tony Carpenter, Billy Daves, Jerry Alford, Jr. and great grandson John Anthony (Ty) Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers are grandson Dr. Tim Carpenter and Christopher Logan.
