Jane was born in Morgan City, MS, on Ellis Plantation, to Emmitt Bevin Henderson and Clyde Elsie Duren Henderson on July 27, 1935. She attended Sidon Elementary School and Morgan City High School. In the late 1960's, Jane began her employment at Greenwood Leflore Hospital as a nurse's aide. She then attended Mississippi Delta Junior College where she received her LPN degree and her RN degree with honors. She worked on all of GLH's floors but mostly on the fourth floor, along with Artys Habig and Sue Duren, Jane's aunt, where she loved attending newborns, babies and children.
In 1952, upon returning home with her new husband, Louis E. Stout, Jr., and daughter, Beverly, from Fort Lee, VA, where Louis was enlisted, they began their life's journey with Emmitt and Clyde Elsie Henderson on Phillipston. They soon moved to Greenwood where their son, Michael, was born in 1955 and in 1958 they moved to Brandon, MS. They returned to Itta Bena, MS, in 1962, then to the Bear Creek area of Leflore County to the house owned by Jeffie Cockrell (Sanford), Jane's aunt, where they lived for seventeen years within sight of B. B. King's birthplace. In 1980, they moved to the Gravel Hill Community in south Carroll County where they built their home and enjoyed retirement.
Jane was an avid seamstress, making beautiful clothes and outfits for her family. She also loved knitting and crocheting. Jane often attended North Greenwood Baptist Church with her sister, Bettye Joyce Lamb.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Beverly Faye Stout, and her son, Michael Louis Stout (Sandra), a sister, Doris Jean Henderson Justice of Tuscaloosa, AL, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Louis E. Stout, Jr., of Tchula, MS, her sisters, Elsie Davenport Henderson Dyche of Greenwood and Betty Joyce Henderson Lamb of Greenwood, and her parents.
Jane is also survived by her grandchildren, Louis Douglas Stout (Krista) of Ocean Springs, MS, Shelley Kuykendall Everett (Mark) of Thompson Station, TN, and Stacey Kuykendall Austin (Joe) of Germantown, TN, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, CNA's and staff at UMMC in Jackson, MS, and Golden Age Nursing Home rehab in Greenwood, MS, for their fine care, and the doctor's, nurses, CNA's and staff at her beloved Greenwood Leflore Hospital where she worked for approximately 30 years.
