Shirlene Newsom Young , 80, of Itta Bena, MS, died Monday, February 26, 2018 at Grace Health and Rehabilitation in Grenada, MS.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home, visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Magnolia Gardens in Paynes, MS. Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate.

Mrs. Young was born January 24, 1938 to Lee H. Newsom and Rebecca Worsham Newsom in Cascilla, MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena where she taught Sunday school. She was a homemaker and loved yard work. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lex Anne Trotter and her parents.

She is survived by her husband, George Carroll Young of Grenada, MS; daughter, Shea Salley and husband John of Grenada, MS; son, George Mark Young and wife Jeannie of Byram, MS; seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
