Mr. LaVere, age 72 died on Sunday December 27, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on December 11, 1943 in North Hollywood CA, to the late Charles LaVere and Mary Dorothy Thompkins and moved to the Mississippi Delta in 2000 claiming the blues had brought him here. He loved music especially jazz and the blues. He owned and operated the Blues Museum in downtown Greenwood and he was a Grammy award winner for his production of the complete recordings of Robert Johnson. Mr. LaVere donated several pictures to the BB King Blues Museum in Indianola. Mr. Lavere always said his father was his biggest influence and he enjoyed listening to his father play with various artist such as Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong. He was such a loving man and always put his family first. Mr. LaVere never wanted to miss a soccer practice let alone a game. He was a great ambassador for the Mississippi Delta and he will be truly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by wife, Regina LaVere of Greenwood, son, George (Wendy) Vasquez of Greenwood, daughter, Mimosa LaVere Bitter of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter, Martha LaVere of San Diego, CA, daughter, Veronica LaVere (Christopher) Davis of Greenwood, and grandchildren, Isabella Vasques and Olivia Vasquez.
