She was born on October 20, 1965 to Sam and Linda Dunn. She was raised in Carroll County, graduated from Cruger Tchula Academy, and later graduated from the University of Mississippi to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. She met and married the love of her life, Darryl Barrett. Their 32 years of marriage is a standing testament to their love and faithfulness to one another. She was blessed with two children and started each morning with a phone call to them. They were her sunshine on a cloudy day. After 10 years of teaching, she retired to take on a vital role in the family business, Barrett Independent Insurance Adjusters.

Tammy loved the Ole Miss Rebels, a good cup of coffee, an early morning walk on the beach, and the great outdoors. Her motto was, "There is nothing that prayer and chocolate can't do!" She will be remembered for her love of the Lord, her genuine smile, her southern cooking skills, and most of all, her love and devotion to her family. She was passionate about hosting loved ones for holidays and enjoyed spending afternoons on the cattle farm. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Linda Dunn, and her mother in law, Becky Barrett.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Darryl Barrett of Greenwood, MS; children, Darryl (Christy) Barrett of Madison, MS, and Kimberly Carol Barrett of Jackson, MS; sister, Sandy (Scott) Brownlee of Flora, MS; niece, Sarah Grace Brownlee of Flora, MS; nephews, Sam Brownlee of Flora, MS, and Hayden Vance of Hernando, MS; sister in law, Allison Vance of Hernando; and father in law, Johnny Barrett of Greenwood, MS.
