Terrell Majure Cobb, 85, of Greenwood, Mississippi died on Saturday, August 19, 2023.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at St. John's Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Butler officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at St. John's.  Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Cemetery in Tchula, MS.

Terrell was born on June 28, 1938 in Tchula, MS to the late Ellarene Majure Cobb and Clarence Terrell Cobb.  Terrell attended Tchula High School where he excelled in several sports (as he told us many times).  After high school, Terrell attended Delta State University, where he met the love of his life, Peggy Jennings.  Terrell and Peggy were married in 1961; their 62nd anniversary was Sunday, August 20, 2023.

After marrying, they lived in Memphis, TN where their first child, Stephanie Gayle, was born.  Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Greenwood, MS where they lived the majority of their married lives.  Son, James Nicholas "Nicky," was born there in 1964.  Terrell worked for the Mississippi Employment Service in Greenwood, before transferring to Jackson, MS in 1972.  In 1975, the family returned to Greenwood and Terrell began a long and successful career with the Greenwood-Leflore Hospital.  He served as Assistant Administrator for 19 years, and as Administrator for seven years.  He loved his time at the hospital and treasured the relationships he formed there.  His kindness and concern for the employees of the hospital earned him their love and respect.  Terrell was honored to be named the Mississippi Hospital Association's Health Care Executive of the Year in 1997.

Terrell was a long-time and faithful member of St. John's Methodist Church, where he gave of his time, talents, and resources.  He served as Lay Leader and delegate to the Annual Conference, taught several Sunday School classes from youth to older adults, and was active on many administrative committees.  He loved his church, and many of his best friendships were formed there.  He loved Jesus, and lived his life in His service.

Terrell was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Terrell Majure Cobb, Jr., and beloved granddaughter, Savannah Layne Gray.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Cobb of Greenwood; his daughter, Stephanie Gray of Greenwood; his son, Nicky (Elizabeth) Cobb of Madison, MS; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Cobb (Karis) of Starkville, MS, Russell Cobb of Madison, MS, and Caroline Cobb of Louisville, KY.  Terrell was a loving husband, daddy, and Papa, who cherished his time with his family.  He will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank Rebecca and Danny Edwards of Country Meadow for making a home for Terrell for the past six years, as well as the many ladies who genuinely loved Terrell and took care of him so well during his time there.  We would also like to thank his friend, Matthew Blackmon, who took great care of him for many years.

Pallbearers will be Scott Jennings, Mike Cockrell, Bill Henderson, Walker Sturdivant, Johnny Favara, Nicholas Cobb and Russell Cobb.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Parham, John Webb, and Lamar Leggett.  Memorials can be made to St. John's Methodist Church, the Community Food Pantry, or the Greenwood Interfaith Ministries Community Kitchen.
