Services for Tripp Davis will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 11:00am at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.
Mr. Davis, age 37, died on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on February 16, 1982 in Greenwood, MS, and was a graduate of Carroll Academy and Holmes Community College. SFC Tripp Davis enlisted into the United States Army in 2002. He attended basic training and AIT at Fort Benning, GA. After graduation he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY.
Tripp completed three combat tours, the first being in Iraq with 2 / 187 th Infantry Regiment from 2002-2003. His second tour was also in Iraq with the 2 / 506 th Infantry Regiment from 2005-2006. His last combat tour was to Afghanistan with the 2/502 nd Infantry Regiment from 2010-2011.
His other accomplishments include assignments as a drill and Ranger instructor at Fort Benning, GA. He was a graduate of Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, and Pathfinder schools. He was awarded the Combat Infantry and Expert Infantry Badges, the National Defense Service Ribbon, along with many others.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Davis; paternal grandfather, Paul Davis, Sr., maternal grandmother, Lora Rayman; and maternal grandfather, Luther Rayman.
He is survived by his son, Luke Davis, daughter, Presley Davis, and their mother Shea Davis, all of Carrollton, MS; father, Paul (Gayle) Davis, Jr. of Carrollton, MS; brother, Josh (Meghan) Davis of Carrollton, MS; other siblings include Kris Kyle of Brandon, MS, Leslie (Chris) Warren of Crystal Springs, MS, and Katie (Jacob) Veenstra of Brandon, MS, and paternal grandmother, Ms. Paul Davis, Sr. of Tupelo.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 8:30am till 11:00am at the funeral home in Greenwood. Bro. Ed McDaniel will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Mason Barnes, Joel Brubaker, Kevin Butler, James Gibson, Brandon Huntzinger, and John Keating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
