Clarksdale, MS: Mrs. Vivian "Sis" Redditt Hemphill, 67, formerly of Greenwood passed away Friday morning August 30, 2013 at her home in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 3 P.M. Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Greenwood with interment in Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton, MS. Visitation will be in the church parlor from 2-3 P.M. Sunday prior to the service.
Mrs. Hemphill was born to Ralph and Vivian Bardin Redditt in Greenwood, MS. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and M.S.C.W., now MUW, with a B. S. degree in History. Sis had devoted her life to teaching and had taught in numerous locations including, Meridian Junior High School, Demopolis, AL, Bankston Elementary, Humphreys Academy, Carroll Academy, and Pillow Academy. She had moved to Clarksdale in 2003 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joe Redditt and her half brother, Billy McEachern.
Mrs. Hemphill is survived by her husband, Howard Hemphill of Clarksdale, two daughters, Newby H. Cook and her husband Bill of Greenwood, MS, Kelly Connell and her husband Ted of Clarksdale, MS, her brothers, Bardin Redditt and Rick Redditt, two grandsons, Reed Cook and Raines Cook, all of Greenwood and a granddaughter, Sykes Connell of Clarksdale, MS.
Pallbearers are Bill Cook, Ted Connell, Reed Cook, Raines Cook, Will Redditt, Richard Redditt and Charlie Redditt.
