Services for Wallace Lee McDaniel will be held Friday October 31, 2014 02:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.
Mr. McDaniel, age 76 died on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at Residence of Heart Failure
He was born on June 23, 1938 in Lexington, MS to the late Leon and Inez Hodges McDaniel and lived in Greenwood, MS most of his life. He retired from the Greenwood Fire Department after 35 years of service, where he served as a Battalion Chief. He was a US Army veteran, and a member of Christ Baptist Church. He also severed as a deacon for 10 years at Valley Hill Baptist church. He loved to garden spend time with his grandchildren and visit with his friends. He is preceded in death by his twin brother Billy Ray McDaniel and a sister Brenda Gross.
He is survived by Wife, Iva Nell Taylor McDaniel of Greenwood, MS, three Sons, James McDaniel of Greenwood, MS, Jason McDaniel of Greenwood, MS, and Randy Taylor of Teoc, MS, three Daughters, Janet Flanagan of Coila, MS, Sherre Buchanan of Greenwood, MS, and Melanie Apple of Nashville, TN, two Sisters, Juanita Hayes of Carthage, MS, and Mary Ballenger of Richland, MS, and 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 31, 2014 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Steve Flanagan, Hunter Flanagan, Lance McDaniel, Taylor Buchanan, Don Buchanan, and Mark McCain. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Greenwood Fire Department. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
