Services for Walter Edward Smith will be held Thursday December 10, 2015 11:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS

Mr. Smith, age 88 died on Tuesday December 08, 2015 at his Residence.

He was born on August 22, 1927 in Tchula, MS to the late Walter Leslie and Rossa Mabry Smith and resided in the Greenwood area most of his life. Mr. Smith retired from South Central Bell after 40 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Serving in Paris as a Military Police. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada, and a member of Greasy Bayou Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Doster Smith of Greenwood, MS, two Daughters, Wanda Funderburk of Columbus, GA., and Becky Sims of Madison, MS., step daughter, Katherine Jackson of Madison, MS Son, Wayne Robertson of Greenwood, MS., Brother, George Smith of Jackson, MS., seven Grandchildren, Christopher Cooms, Jeremy Sims, Summer McCain, Bobby Robertson, Tracy Robertson, Robin Harwick, and Renea Smith, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 10, 2015 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Larry Edwards will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Bobby Robertson, Matt Smith, Donny Hovas, Chris Cooms, Lee Hamrick, and Stephen Smith. Burial will be at 2:00PM Thursday December 10, 2015 in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grenada.
