Obituary

Ward Nelson Jackson, Jr., 62, of Grenada, MS, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at UMMC in Grenada. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood with visitation from 12:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Longview Cemetery in Carroll County. Dr. Brent Barker and Rev. Dr. Don Simmons will officiate.

Mr. Jackson was born April 2, 1962 in Greenwood to the late Ward Nelson Jackson, Sr. and Rebecca Ashmore Jackson. He graduated from Greenwood High School and the University of Mississippi with a degree in civil engineering. He worked the past 36 years at MDOT. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Belinda Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Baker Jackson of Grenada, MS; daughters, Tiffany (Dustin) Talbert of Starkville, MS, and Jessica Jackson of Grenada, MS; son, Deane (Abby) Tilley of Vardaman, MS; grandchildren, Rylee Tilley, Jessie Tilley, A.K. Tilley, Bentley Shriver, Vicky Gibbs and a grandchild on the way.

Pallbearers will be Deane Tilley, Bentley Shriver, Lance Parent, Austin Parent, Collin Parent, Jerry Gilliland, Naron Yates, and Jon Jernigan. Honorary pallbearers will be MDOT employees and the Fred Fortenberry Sunday School class.

Memorials may be made to Blair E Batson Children's Hospital or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
