Greenwood, MS: Mr. Whitney Edmundson Smith, II, 64, died at his home in Greenwood Sunday November 3, 2013. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 P.M. Thursday Nov. 7 at the Episcopal Church of The Nativity. Visitation is Thursday at the church from 2-3 P .M.

Mr. Smith was born in Greenwood to Robert and Jeanette Sivley Smith and graduated from Greenwood High School. He served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborn Division. For over 46 years he was a surveyor and he and his family lived in many different locations until he moved back to Greenwood. After returning to Greenwood he worked for Kirk Brothers GMC for 6 months before retiring. Mr. Smith was a member of the Epicopal Church of the Nativity and the American Legion Post 29.

He is survived by his wife Debra Gayle Smith of Greenwood, three sons, Whitney Smith, III of Greenwood, MS, Robert Christopher Smith of Arlington, TX, James Michael Whitney Smith of California, a grandchild, Taylor Nicole Smith of Greenwood, Aunt and Uncle Hughey & Robert Busby and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's research hospital or the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.
