Obituary

William F. (Bill) Rodgers, age 94, of Phillip, MS, passed away Friday, November 11th 2016 at Grenada Living Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 13th at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.

Bill was born on January 19th, 1922 in Winona, MS, to William Leslie and Etta Wright Rodgers. He is preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters, Launa Howard and Ella Mae Brown, and Brothers, Scott Rodgers, Wilburn Rodgers, and Howard Rodgers.

He is survived by his Wife, Joyce B. Rodgers; Children, Amy (Charles) Walker of Brandon, MS, Van Rodgers of Greenwood, MS, and Penny (Bee) Petro of Kosciusko, MS; and Grandchildren, April (Scott) Kilpatrick, Allen McCaleb, Elizabeth Petro, Catherine Petro, and Mary Hayden Rodgers.

Mr. Rodgers served in CCC Camp, Vicksburg, MS, and worked in the machine shop in New Britain, CT, during World War II. He was a trucker for several years, worked for Delta Electric and retired from Paine Heating and Air Wholesale in Greenwood.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday, and Sam Riddell will officiate the services. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Cascilla, MS.

The family would like to thank Halcyon Hospice and Grenada Living Center Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care that Mr. Rodgers received. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either Poplar Springs Cemetery Fund, c/o Annie B. Martin, P.O. Box 1091, Tupelo, MS, 38802, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
