You Kang Yee, 75 of Greenwood, MS, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on June 28, 2018 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.

Kang was born December 30, 1942 to Chong P. Yee and Ging Young. He immigrated to the United States from China, and started his career as a chef in Memphis, TN, at Joy Young Restaurant before marrying and settling in Greenwood, MS.  He and his late wife, Yuet Ping Yee, owned a grocery store until his death.

Those who knew him knew of his love of family, cooking, the meaning and value of a good work ethic and education, and his love for playing mahjong and playing with his granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, Kang was preceded in death by his wife, Yuet Ping Yee, and sister, May Wong.

He is survived by his wife, Xiao Li; daughter, Lilac; son, Andrew (Meghann); granddaughter, Vivian Yee; and sister, Mary Yee. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Wong, Sam Chow, Matt Hudson, Randy Harper, Johnny Joe, and Ben Luk.

Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, with a graveside service to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate the services.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors of Fresenius Medical in Greenwood, Dr. Michael Boler and staff, and Sunflower Home Health for their wonderful care over the years.
